i've loved my time in beirut &, in many ways, am not ready for it to end. however, i do miss my dog, that tyler guy, my family & friends. i'm not exactly the homesick type, so this is kind of a big deal for me.
i also have a running list of things i must do immediately upon my return to the states:
1) buy a planner -- mine ran out of pages over a week & a half ago because it's an academic year planner. AHHHH, this is a big deal for me, as those who know about my planner obsession can attest. (tyler, before you get too terribly impressed by my ability to live through this planner-less trial, i must confess i went to two different bookshops in search of my beloved, & put in a special request to order one with whatever shipping costs were necessary... but said request was roundly denied/offered a source of some amusement for the clerk.)
2) get a desperately needed haircut. wow, i do mean desperate. how does this stuff grow so quickly?!
3) eat @ "the cart" with the hometown gang. i'm craving some mexican food with a mondo-sized "dollop" (i.e. bowl-full) of sour cream & fresh guac.
4) go to the sweet shoppe (a restaurant in my hometown) for the classic fat boy. what's a fat boy? only the world's best burger (a little bit of sentimentality is going into that decision, perhaps trumping the questions of taste/grease, but not entirely... it is sinfully delicious). the fat boy is a triple-decker with all the fixins': cheese, pickles, mayo, &, most importantly, cole slaw. hold out on the judgment till you give it a chance. also, soggy buns are included. and saggy buns of a different sort, if you eat enough fat boys.
5) watch our wedding DVD. can't wait to see the lady gaga fest 2010, i.e. our wickedly fun choreographed "first dance." thanks again, mara. :)
while we're on the subject of food, other items i'm craving: diet chocolate coke & my trademarked snack of tortilla chips, sour cream, & pineapple salsa. mmm, now i think i'm hungry.
